Our Privacy Policy pertains to all the services that we provide under the Orthodate brand, including websites, apps, events, and other related services.

Information collected

In order to assist you in creating faithful connections, we require certain information about you, including basic profile details and the preferences you have for meeting others. Additionally, we gather data on how you use our services, including access logs.

You choose to give us certain information when using our services. This includes:

  • When establishing an account - you are required to supply us with certain fundamental details for the service to operate effectively. These particulars typically consist of your phone number, email address, gender, and date of birth.
  • When you finalise your profile - you have the opportunity to provide us with additional information, including a biography, interests, and visual content such as photos. To include specific content like pictures, you may authorise us to access your camera or photo album.

  • With fellow Orthodate members - naturally, we engage in the processing of your conversations and the content you share with fellow members. This is to ensure the seamless operation, security, and safety of both our services and our community.

Aside from the information you directly provide us, we also receive information about you from other sources, such as members of our community. They may share information about you as they use our services, for instance, by interacting with you or submitting a report involving you.

While utilising our services, various technical data is automatically generated or gathered. Here is an overview of the categories of data we collect:

  • Usage Data: This includes data about your interactions with other members, such as connections, interactions, matching, and message exchanges, as well as details about your activity on our services, such as login times, utilised features, actions performed, and displayed information.

  • Device Data: We gather data related to the devices you utilise for accessing our services. This encompasses details such as the type of device, device ID, IP address, app settings, characteristics, advertising IDs, and app crash reports. (An advertising ID is a unique identifier generated by a device's operating system. It enables targeted advertisements to be delivered by advertisers and app developers. Users have the ability to reset or disable advertising IDs in their device settings, giving them control over personalised advertising).

  • Data Acquired via Cookies and Comparable Technologies: In order to identify you and/or your device(s), we or third parties may utilise cookies and similar technologies, including web beacons, pixels, and SDKs. Please Note: Certain web browsers, such as Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome, offer a ‘Do Not Track’ (DNT) feature. This feature allows users to indicate their preference to avoid being tracked in their online activities. However, it should be noted that not all browsers support this feature, and there is currently no standardised framework for DNT signals. As a result, many businesses including ours do not currently acknowledge or act upon these signals.

  • In order to offer you new Orthodate services, we may register you and showcase your profile on these fresh features and apps, as well as effectively manage your account within this expanded service.
  • In our quest to improve and innovate our services, we assess customer support interactions to enhance service quality, analyse member usage to drive improvements (including modifying or redesigning features based on member feedback), and respond to member requests for interests-based functionalities by developing new features and services.
  • In our commitment to combat fraud and unauthorised activities, we investigate and address reported violations of our Terms of Use by reviewing interactions and reports between members. This enables us to handle ongoing or suspected breaches effectively. Additionally, we develop strategies aimed at preventing violations and enhancing our understanding of fraudulent activities. 
  • To assist in the above endeavour, we retain information pertaining to violations of our Terms of Use, thus contributing to the prevention of future incidents. By opting to disclose information on our service, such as your public profile, you are actively sharing that information with other members. It is important to exercise caution and carefully consider what information you are comfortable with being visible to others. Your visibility settings dictate who can see your profile and specific content or information about yourself. By adjusting these settings, you have control over determining the audience that can access your profile and designated content. In cases where a violation of our Terms of Use or any other communication involving you is reported or received, we may share information with the individual who made the report, informing them of the actions we have taken in response.   • Update Options: We offer tools and account settings that enable you to correct, or delete information that you have provided to us and that is associated with your account directly within the service.   • Device access controls: Mobile platforms have permission systems for device data and notifications. You can control the collection and processing of information or notifications by adjusting your device settings.
  • Uninstall Orthodate: If you want to cease information collection by our app, you can remove it through the standard uninstallation process on your device. It's important to note that removing an app does not deactivate your account. To deactivate your account, please utilise the relevant functionality provided by the service. To terminate your account at any time, please utilise the available functionality directly within Orthodate.

Important Notice: Removing information from your profile or deleting your account does not guarantee its complete removal. There is a possibility that others may still have access to or store the information if it was previously shared. We cannot be held responsible for any such access or storage.

Your privacy rights

We want you to know your privacy rights. Depending on where you are, you may have rights to access, restrict, correct, or delete your personal information. You may wish to request personal data from Orthodate by contacting our administration team. (https://www.orthodate.com.au)

Please note: We may need to verify your identity for security purposes and may reject any unlawful requests. If you request information relating to another member, we will need written consent from that member before releasing any information.  

How long we retain your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for legitimate business purposes, and in accordance with applicable law. Once your account is closed, we will retain and delete your personal information as follows:

  • In order to adhere to legal data retention requirements, we retain a limited amount of data. To meet tax and accounting obligations, transaction data is retained for five years. Credit card information is stored for the duration in which a user may challenge a transaction, typically not exceeding 120 days. Additionally, we retain traffic data and logs for a period of two years to comply with Australian legal data retention obligations.
  • We retain limited information based on our legitimate interests, such as enforcing our rights and defending against claims. Profile data is kept for up to one year in anticipation of potential legal disputes, while data preventing banned members from creating new accounts is retained for as long as necessary to ensure the safety of Orthodate members.
  • We retain certain information based on our legitimate interests to address unresolved or potential issues, claims, or disputes. This includes situations where we receive valid legal requests or subpoenas to preserve data as per Commonwealth law.

Age Restriction: Our services are exclusively for individuals who are 18 years old or older. We strictly prohibit the use of our platform by anyone under the age of 18. If you suspect that a member is below the age of 18, please advise our administration team. (Community Standards)

Changes to our Privacy Policy

As we strive to enhance your experience and adapt to evolving needs, we may update our Privacy Policy to reflect current practices. If there are significant changes, we will notify you in advance via the Orthodate App, and provide an opportunity for you to review and understand the updates, before they come into effect.
